ITANAGAR, Feb 12: One NSCN (K) central member (civil) surrendered before Longding deputy commissioner and Superintendent of Police in Longding recently.

ITANAGAR, Feb 12: An assistant teacher was reportedly arrested for allegedly demolition of government quarter at Lobi here, informed additional district magistrate Talo Potom in a release. A team of lady police along with circle officer rushed to Lobi and arrested the accused and later handed over to Women Police Station for detention. 2nd Job Mela at Pasighat
PASIGHAT, Feb 12: The 2nd job Mela cum selection of unemployed youths for vocational training was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Opak Gao at DIC Pasighat in presence of S. Prasad, Principal Adviser to the Chief Minister, Denong Tamuk, Chief Councilor PMC, officers, Vocational Training Providers (VTPs) and aspiring candidates.
On the occasion Gao said that, "this opportunity is the vision and brain child of Chief Minister for creating job opportunities for the jobless". This is a mission which has to be taken seriously by aspiring youths to equip themselves to face the challenges of life. Panchayat leaders for new RCC bridge
ITANAGAR, Feb 12: The panchayat leaders of Baririjo Anchal Samity block have appealed to the state Govt for reconstruction and replacement of present dilapidated iron bridge over Banyom valley river at Ronya village under Barijo circle of Upper Subansiri district with RCC Bridge.
In a representation addressed to the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, the panchayat leaders said, the iron bridge, which is a life line of many villages, remains in pathetic condition due to lack of maintenance by the authority since 1980. The aged bridge has already got damaged and therefore needs replacement with new RCC bridge to prevent any unwanted accident, the representation said.

The minister said the Upper Assam Leading Committee (UALC) of CPI(Maoist) is presently operating in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and have been involved in incidents of looting of weapons and extortion from local villagers.
The government said UALC has also been engaged in recruitment and training of cadres for the outfit in Assam and these cadres have been utilised in extensive propaganda against mega dams in Assam.

NESO, AAPSU stage dharna against racial abuse
ITANAGAR, Feb 12: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) and North East Students' Organization (NESO) today sat on dharna in front of Raj Bhawan here in protest against racial abuse that led to death of a young Arunachalee in the national capital last month.
Addressing the protesters, NESO secretary general Prakash Sinam Singh urged all the students and people across the state to stand united and fight against such barbaric act.
The rape of a minor girl of Manipur by the son of landlord just few days after Nido Tania's killing shows that we the people of NE are still unsafe in national capital, he said.
NESO also appealed to the political leaders of the NE region to stand united and work for the welfare of the people of the region. AGSU calls for solution to boundary problem
ITANAGAR, Feb 12: All Galo Students' Union (AGSU) has urged the state government to come up with a concrete policy in order to solve the vexed boundary dispute with Assam permanently.

NABARD conducts awareness prog on AMIGS scheme
TEZU, Feb 12: A one day awareness programme on development and strengthening of Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure, Grading and Standardization (AMIGS) was held yesterday at DC's Conference Hall, Tezu for the banker's, NGOs and all the Govt. officers of agri and allied departments of Lohit district.
The program was organized by the NABARD Regional Office, Itanagar on behalf of NABCONS in collaboration with the local NGO, Amik Matai Society.

He said that development would not come from outside but the people themselves will have to develop and urged all to take up schemes in agriculture and horticulture in large scale to improve their economy. He told the gathering that no place can make any headway without proper education and said that Chief Minister Nabam Tuki had launched many employment generating programmes in the state and urged the youth to take full advantage.
The guest of honour Thinghap Taiju, Parliamentary Secretary, WRD asked the people to strengthen the hands of local MLA Yumsen Matey for all round development and preserve the rich culture of the Ollos. The local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary, DoTCL and SWWCD while thanking the minister for his kind presence highlighted the significance of the Worang festival and asked the people to be proud of their identity as Ollos. He urged them to work hard to catch up with the more developed tribes of the state.
Earlier, the minister unfurled the festival flag and witnessed the rituals at the
makeshift altar. He later released the Ollo Pongwan CD cassette amidst huge applause.

Let's stop acting like wild animals
Dear Editor,
It is heartening to know that entire country is expressing their solidarity over the brutal killing of our beloved brother late Nido Tania. The episode was given a national character by news channels like Times Now, Headlines today and various other channels. Being alarmed by such brutality, whole day I kept browsing news channel to catch up every details of what would be next. But, alas! Every time I switched on my TV, it would show me some unending debate of politicians and time consuming advertisements. Few years ago, in South Delhi while entire Arunachal students were expressing solidarity with press fraternity by organizing protest against the brutal attack on young lady journalist Tongam Rina of Arunachal Times I was amazed to find most of the country's leading news channels like Zee news, Times Now and others present except my favourite Aaj Tak channel. I was thinking what is wrong with this news channel? Is there any reason for not covering us? Yes, there may be one solid reason. "Few years ago some guys in Itanagar broke vehicle of Aaj Tak and even attacked its staff, which forced them to flee from the state," told me a fellow Arunachalee. Dear people of Arunachal, let's stop acting like wild animals. Today we claim that we are in modern age but sadly many are seen acting like they are still in Tarzan era. This generation is perishing anyhow but let's save our future generation. Lastly today we can be proud of having successfully united every Indians in protest against various injustices........be it Tongam Rina's case, Tarrasso incident or late Nido Tania's case. It is only because of the incredible role played by our media and press fraternity that our minds are truly awakened.

KGBV teachers being ignored by state government

Through your esteemed daily, I on behalf of East Kameng Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Teachers Association (EKKGBVTA) would like to draw kind attention of Government of Arunachal Pradesh towards hardship faced by the teachers working under the ambitious programme of Government of Arunachal Pradesh that is Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV).
The GoAP are interested to promote girls education in Arunachal Pradesh but they are totally ignoring the welfare of staffs working under KGBVs of Arunachal Pradesh.
The salaries of staffs are very meager as compared to duties that we perform. The
prices of essential commodities are getting hiked day by day but our salary remains
stagnate since it was implemented from 2005-
From that very moment the KGBV staffs started to submit memorandum after memorandum to GoAP but still our genuine demands are not fulfilled till date and GoAP is remaining silent towards our demands.
At present also indefinite pen down strike was declared by AAPKGBVTA from 27th January 2014 but still GoAP is not in mood to solve our problems. GoAP is totally responsible for the present pen down strike because they failed to meet our genuine demands.
Hope, our grievances will be looked into by the authorities in the right earnest and needful action be taken at the earliest possible.

New boundary tension erupts
The Assam-
The economic blockade which lasted for one week paralyzed whole state. State capital was cut from rest of the country due to blockade. It caused immense pain to the people of state. Such was the intensity of blockade that if it had lasted for another week, there could have been retaliatory action in Arunachal. The government of Assam and Arunachal should take urgent note of Durpai incident and take precautionary measures. The two states cannot afford to have another clash as it will possibly destroy the age old relation.
